ESOC Sprint O - Hopetoun House

The ESOC Sprint O consists of a Prologue, followed by a Chase where the first person home is the winner. Hopetoun House grounds, in the shadow of the Forth Bridges, was a great venue for Sprint O and gave fast, and close, racing.

The Prologue was 2.9k with 20m of climb and 13 controls and the Chase was 2.7k with 20m of climb and 15 controls.

MAROC Scottish Night Championships - Birsemore Hill

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2009

MAROC put on a great event - efficient organisation, a superb area and testing courses; and a warm up map and post race soup too!

I ran M50/Course 2 which was 5.7k with 15 controls. Was careful and had a pretty clean run, with only a small miss at 8.

FVO Night Event - Dumyat East

Fraser Purves planned a long course which was 5.7k with 20 controls. Gaffling split people at the start, with some doing my 16 - 19 first. Nobody found number 4 - either we were in the wrong place, it was put in the wrong place or it had been moved! Despite that, the course was great fun and gave Will Hensman a narrow victory over Ross McLennan.

INT SoSOL - Norman's Law

With much of the country in the grip of snow and ice, Norman's Law in East Fife had fared relatively well, with only a light covering of snow. Richard Speirs of Interlopers planned some really good courses with the Brown, which I ran, being 8.2k with 350m of climb and 25 controls.

FVO Night Event - Barr Wood

Trevor Hoey planned a great course (5.2k with 150m of climb and 20 controls) with lots of gaffles which, following a mass start, split runners-up really effectively. Will Hensman won in 41 minutes.

LOC Regional Event - Bethecar Moor

Bethecar Moor lies between Windermere and Coniston in the southern Lake District and although open fell, provides a good technical challenge. I ran M50L which was 6.9k with 310m of climb and 14 controls.
