This years JOK Chasing Sprint took place at Holyrood Park - a volcanic plug in central Edinburgh, with a prologue being followed by a chase. I ran the M40+ courses which were excellently planned by Graeme Ackland and enjoyed some great head to head racing, especially in the chase!
The prologue was 2.9k with 75m of climb and 13 controls.
The chase was 2.7k with 90m of climb and 10 controls.

Edinburgh was at its best for this years city race - cold, but clear and sunny! The course took us past a number of well known landmarks including Holyrood Palace, the Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth, Royal Mile, Calton Hill, Grassmarket, Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street Gardens; and provided some technical orienteering. I ran the Mens Veterans (Long course) which was 6.6k with 26 controls.

The prologue was 2.7k with 80m of climb and 14 controls. Tom Ryan was fastest, with Dave Robertson and Will Hensman second and third. I finished fourth in 14.30.

The Chase was 2.7k with 60m of climb and 14 controls. Tom Ryan held onto his lead, Will Hensman passed Dave Robertson for second and third respectively; and I hung onto fourth place, but was pushed hard by Andrew Dalgleish.

Ross McLennan organised FVO's first night event of 2010. I ran the long course which was 6.6k with 22 controls. Gaffling at the first control seperated runners very effectively, with Will Hensman going on to secure victory, albeit a narrow one over Tom Ryan who was in the lead at the last control, but who fell on ice on the way to the finish.
