My sore muscle felt a bit better when I tested it on early morning jog, so I drove the 40 minutes to Dunkeld and somewhat rashly entered the Blue (longest) course which was 7.5 kms with 290 m of climb and 20 controls. The forest was rough and tough with lots of brashings (see photo below) and the rain fell relentlessly, making the going even harder!
I retired after 6 controls, happy that my body was holding together and not wanting to do too much with the World Masters just a couple of weeks away.
Steve Nicholson, M35 from FVO, ran a very respectable 62 minutes, which I guess will turn out to be the fastest time.
