EBOR White Rose Event - Pickering Forest

This years White Rose Event took place in Pickering Forest in the North York Moors National Park. Pickering Forest was the venue for one of my first orienteering events - Nev Myers tells me it was in 1973! I remember running M15 and crawling through fight whilst trying to follow a compass bearing! Fortunately I wasn't put-off and this weekend was a much more positive experience!

The weather was great, the area (- much to my surprise and relief!) free of bracken and brambles, and the courses challenging - with route choice and areas of good contour detail!

The socialising was a highlight too, with a British Squad reunion and an opportunity to meet up with old friends not often seen at current events!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2007 - Day 1

M50L was 5.5k with 195m of climb and 14 controls. Managed to break one of my Active Ankles at the second control!
