BASOC 11 Person Relay - Loch Vaa

Will Hensman on first leg for FVO.

The 11 person relay starts off with a single runner, who hands over to 3 runners, who in turn hand over to 3 more runners. A third trio of runners hands over to the last and final runner.

This years relay was organised by Badenoch and Strathspey Orienteering Club and was held at Loch Vaa, near Aviemore - a fantastic area of glacial moraines that was used for the World Relay Championships in 1999.

I ran last leg for FVO 1 and was sent off with a lead which I was able to hold on to on my "Tartan" course which was 3.2k with 90m of climb and 12 controls.

Hi Gross,

Ran along a new extraction lane on the way to the crossing point - much easier under foot!

Do use my compass a fair bit, especially since getting a thumb compass (a few years ago)! Not sue The O Mapper has learnt to use a compass yet though!

Hope you're well and practicing what you preach!

I am sure I mapped that bit... oh well- maybe you're right about the compass work. Why use a compass when there's a photogrammetric plot?
