The day dawned bright and, with a fresh fall of snow on the ground, meant I had to get out and do something - even after a late night following Forth Valley Orienteers Dinner Dance the previous evening! I opted to go to this years East of Scotland Orienteering Association Championships, organised by Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club at Penicuik Estate, south of Edinburgh. I ran the Blue course which was 6.4k with 235m of climb and 15 controls, and then spent the rest of the afternoon in a very pleasant coffee shop in Edinburgh with some members of Interlopers.

Hi, I see that you don't want to finish this season too... while Hazel...
Hi Rusky,
You and I are both the same - neither of us wanting the season to finish!
Hazel does lots of cross country racing in the winter, so does less orienteering then. I'd hoped to do more cross country this winter and did a race 10 days ago and had planned to do more soon. Unfortunately, I injured my calf tonight (the second time in 10 days) so I'm going to have to be cautious for a while!
unfortunately next sunday will be last race of 2008... I believe that me and Mary will run cross country and i hope to explain better the orienteering to her. The translation of the blog's post was a good training for our english... we must wait for the next season!
Hi Martin
Thanks for your comment, I am posting maps until I am told otherwise, probably the great and the good won't be the type to bother looking at my site.
Into night season now, and looking forward to it, might even make the British Champs as they are down south this year.
Mark
Hi Mark,
Am envious of you doing night O and look forward to reading about them (and seeing the courses!) on your blog!
Unfortunately, I've injured my calf which has prevented me going to any recent events.
Martin
Marry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family.
