I ran the long course which was 6.0k with 10 controls, which took me 44.13.

Why did you not go straight 5-6?
Wish I had - was trying to avoid tussocks and heather and thought deviating to the south would give paths/better running. This didn't prove to be the case and I'm sure I lost time.
